Brittany's Exploration of Florida's History

 My fiance and I visited the Camp Blanding Museum this afternoon. We were there for about 45 mins, and got to look around at all of the WWII memorabilia. They had a ton of airplanes, ambulances, and tanks in the outdoor part of the museum. Once we got inside, we were able to walk around and read about WWII and the role Camp Blanding played in it. There was a model of the German Prisoner of War camp located at Camp Blanding. It showed where the jail was, the mess hall, the chapel, the theater, and even where they played soccer. Seeing the exhibit where the soldiers slept brought to life how life must have been as a soldier there in the early 1940's.  One of the last exhibits in the museum was about the impact of women in WWII. "The most visible and powerful symbol of the war's impact on the home front was the presence of women in the workplace." Hello!   My name is Brittany and I have lived in Jacksonville, FL my entire life. I have had a love/hate relationship with Florida since I was young. I love that we live right by the beach, but I hate sand getting everywhere. I love that we have such sunny weather, but I hate being too hot and sweaty. One thing I have always adored and never hated about Florida is the Florida State University Seminoles. Ever since I could walk and talk, I have been a self-proclaimed FSU fan. I could already spell "Florida" when I got to Kindergarten just from knowing the Florida State chant. My aunt is alumni, my fiancé went to FSU and his sister is currently attending there as well! Because I grew up here, Florida history has always been a part of my education. I have been on field trips to St. Augustine and visited the Old Jail or the Fountain of Youth many times.
